Hospital Cleaner Job Description:

The Hospital Cleaner is responsible for ensuring that all assigned areas of the hospital are clean, sanitized, and maintained to the highest standards of hygiene. This role includes cleaning patient rooms, public areas, restrooms, and offices, as well as disposing of waste, replenishing supplies, and adhering to infection control protocols.

Hospital Cleaner Job Responsibilities:

General Cleaning:

Clean and sanitize patient rooms, including furniture, floors, and bathrooms.

Dust and wipe down surfaces, including windowsills, countertops, and furniture.

Vacuum, sweep, and mop floors in patient rooms, hallways, and other areas.

Empty trash receptacles and dispose of waste according to hospital protocols.

Infection Control:

Adhere to infection control policies, including the use of appropriate cleaning agents and disinfectants.

Handle biohazardous materials and waste in compliance with hospital regulations.

Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces and equipment to prevent the spread of infections.

Restocking Supplies:

Replenish soap, hand sanitizer, paper towels, and other supplies in patient rooms and public areas.

Maintain cleaning equipment and report any damages or malfunctions to the supervisor.

Communication:

Report any maintenance issues, such as broken equipment or safety hazards, to the appropriate department.

Interact with patients, visitors, and staff in a professional and courteous manner.

Compliance:

Follow hospital policies and procedures, including health and safety regulations.

Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.

Attend training sessions on safety and infection control as needed.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience:
  • Previous experience in cleaning or environmental services, particularly in a healthcare setting, is an advantage.

Skills:

  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Physical stamina and ability to perform tasks that involve standing, walking, bending, and lifting.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Understanding of and sensitivity to the needs of patients and healthcare environments.

Work Environment:
