Computer Operator Job Description:
The Computer Operator is responsible for monitoring and controlling computer systems, ensuring efficient operation, and providing support to users. This role involves performing routine tasks, troubleshooting issues, and maintaining system performance.

Computer Operator Job Responsibilities:
System Monitoring and Control:
- Monitor computer systems and networks to ensure they are running efficiently and securely.
- Operate and manage mainframes, servers, and peripheral devices.
- Perform regular system checks, backups, and data storage tasks.
Troubleshooting and Support:
- Identify and resolve system errors, malfunctions, and hardware/software issues.
- Provide technical support to users and assist with resolving IT-related problems.
- Escalate complex issues to senior IT staff or vendors as needed.
Maintenance and Upgrades:
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, including software updates and hardware inspections.
- Assist in the implementation of system upgrades and new technologies.
- Ensure all IT equipment and systems are properly maintained and updated.
Data Management:
- Manage data entry, storage, and retrieval processes.
- Ensure data integrity and security by following established protocols.
- Conduct regular data backups and ensure proper documentation of procedures.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain detailed logs of system operations, errors, and maintenance activities.
- Generate regular reports on system performance and issues.
- Document all troubleshooting and repair activities.
Compliance and Security:
- Adhere to company policies, procedures, and IT standards.
- Ensure compliance with data protection and security regulations.
- Assist in the implementation of security measures and protocols.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; an associate degree in computer science or a related field is preferred.
- Previous experience in a computer operator or similar IT role is advantageous.
- Proficiency in operating and troubleshooting computer systems and networks.
- Knowledge of operating systems, software applications, and IT infrastructure.
- Familiarity with data backup and recovery procedures.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
Working Conditions:
This position may require working in shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
The role involves working in a computer room environment, which may have specific temperature and noise conditions.
